The North Georgia Swim
League has been around for a long time. The league is comprised of 10
teams from all over northeast Georgia. The league is a mix of a few
year-round programs and many summer programs; some large and some small.
Occasionally new teams come into the league. At present here is a list of
teams. Commerce Tiger Sharks, Cumming Waves, Dacula Dolphins,
Dawsonville, Habersham Rapids, Hunter’s Chase, Lanier Aquatics, North
Georgia Rapids, Pineshore Piranhas and of course the Stingrays.Here is a description of the League wide meets. The NGSL Pentathlon: This event is being held at the YMCA in Winder on June 14th . This is our league’s version of the Iron Man’s contest. Each swimmer swims each individual stroke and an Individual Medley; a total of five events. All event times will be totaled for a final time and scored accordingly. The scoring is based on those combined times. This meet is designed for more experienced and/or “all-star” swimmers. Meet Commitment Change Forms (MCF2) are due before Friday, June 6th. Swimmers who sign up and do not participate will be charged a $10.00 “No Show” fee. The Divisional Meet held on June 21st: This event is part of the Georgia State Games and is held annually at Green Street pool in Gainesville on June 17th. The coaching staff will select events for each swimmer based partially by swimmer input. Ribbons and trophies are awarded. Meet Commitment Change Forms (MCF2) are due before Friday, June 13th. Swimmers who sign up and do not participate will be charged a $10.00 “No Show” fee. The NGSL Invitational: Dacula will host the Invitational this year at their pool on Saturday, June 28th. Only those swimmers who did not swim in the Pentathlon will be eligible for this meet. Each swimmer may enter three individual events and one freestyle relay, and one medley relay. Relay teams are made up by the coaches and are based on current times. This meet is pre-seeded, electronically timed, and scored by computer. This meet is seeded with the fastest swimmers swimming last. Meet Commitment Change Forms (MCF2) are due before Friday, June 20th. Swimmers who sign up and do not participate will be charged a $10.00 “No Show” fee. Gwinnett County State Qualifier: This is a qualifying meet for the top swimmers in Gwinnett County including the NGSL and the Gwinnett County Swim League (GCSL). The coaching staff will select swimmers based on times to attend this meet. At the District Meet, the top three swimmers in each event are selected to attend the GRPA State Meet. Several Stingray swimmers qualify each year for the State Meet. This event will be held on Saturday, July 12th, at the Collins Hill Aquatic Center. Meet Commitment Change Forms (MCF2) are due before Friday, June 30. The GRPA State Meet will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 25th and 26th. League Championship: This meet will be held at the Habersham Pool in Clarksville on Saturday July 19th. It is electronically timed and computer seeded and scored. At this meet, team scores and individual high points are also computed. Meet Commitment Change Forms (MCF2) are due before Friday, July 12th. This is the pinnacle for our season as a team, it is critical that all swimmers try to be available for this special meet. |
