Volunteers are the life’s
blood of the Stingrays. From the board to the timers, the Stingray’s
success is built on the efforts of many volunteers. Some give a little,
some give a little more and some give a lot. But it is not how much that
is important; it is giving the time or skill you can afford. We can assure
you in many cases; you’ll get more satisfaction and pride out than the
effort put in. So you don’t miss this wonderful opportunity, we will assign one work assignment per swimmer during the season. It is picked randomly and posted before the season. Once posted, if you know of a conflicting date, it is your responsibility to find some one to swap with. If all else fails, notify the coaching staff or a board member and we can assist you in finding a substitute. In addition, there are always needs for additional help; most jobs require no special training. The league also offers a course in May to become certified as a NGSL official. Contact coach Brian if you are interested. If you always thought those officials were terrible, here’s your chance to change things!! In previous years we have set the standard at the sanctioned meets of providing many volunteers above our assigned number. The Stingray League representatives have pushed through a motion at the March 2004 NGSL board meeting that all teams must provide one volunteer per 30 swimmers. This should balance load at all sanctioned meets where many volunteers are needed. Get involved, do what you can. Your kids will be proud of you and so will we. Be a Stingray volunteer and make a difference. |
